Wild Plum Center offers both Head Start and Tuition-Based Preschool Programming.
We are the designated Head Start provider for the St. Vrain Valley School district portion of both Boulder and Weld Counties. Head Start is both a federal funding stream, as well as a best-practice early education model. Since Head Start is a proven model of providing successful early childhood education, Wild Plum Center bases all its preschool programming on this model of service – even those classrooms that are not supported by this funding stream.

These services are designed to be responsive to each child and family’s ethnic, cultural and linguistic heritage.

- Parent Education
- Family Support and Case Management
- Mental Health Services for Children & Parents
- Support for Early Physical Health Needs, including Health and Dental Screenings
- Nutritional Information, as well as highly nutritional meals and snacks
Wild Plum Center currently uses the research-based Creative Curriculum in all preschool classrooms. Creative Curriculum focuses on all areas of children’s growth – physical, cognitive, social/emotional, and language development. Creative Curriculum allows each teacher to tailor lessons to the specific interests, characteristics, and needs of the children and families in their individual classrooms. Teachers integrate a theme for the week or month and immerse students in that topic through classroom materials, books, and activities – all sparked by students’ interests relating to that theme.

Grants
The Office of Head Start (OHS), within the Administration of Children and Families of the Department of Health and Human Services, awards grants to public and private agencies on a competitive basis to provide these comprehensive services to specific communities. Head Start grantees provide the services as described in the Head Start Performance Standards and in accordance with the Head Start Act of 2007. The Office of Head Start is responsible for oversight of these grantees, to ensure the performance standards are met and the best quality of care is provided to the enrolled children. In addition, some cities, states and federal programs offer funding to expand Head Start and Early Head Start to additional children within their jurisdiction.
